Difference between extruded board and insulation board.

The full name of extruded board is extruded polystyrene foam board, and its other name is xps board. This kind of board is widely used in decoration. It has been applied in wall insulation, flat roof and steel roof insulation, and some airport runways and expressways insulation. This kind of material is not expensive, and its quality is not bad, so it has won favorable comments from users.

Another kind of board, namely polystyrene board, is also a kind of plastic foam board, which is also called polystyrene board and eps board, and is divided into two types, namely common type and flame retardant type. This kind of material has good thermal insulation performance, which can well prevent the penetration of steam in the application process, and also has strong compression resistance and long service life. Therefore, it is an energy-saving thermal insulation material often used in buildings.

The uses of the two foam boards are very similar, but what are the specific differences between them? Today, we will take a look at them. The first thing to understand is their thermal insulation performance. If the thickness of eps and xps is the same, their thermal insulation performance is different. Relatively speaking, the thermal insulation performance of xps will be better. By the same token, if they have the same heat preservation effect, the thickness of xps board will be thinner. However, the price of xps sheets will be more expensive if you pay for the goods at a price. In the actual decoration process, the heat storage function of concrete itself is sufficient, and if the external insulation layer is added, it can completely meet the national standards for building energy efficiency, so both kinds of insulation boards can meet the needs of buildings, so it is ok to consider the budget in the selection process.

The second point to compare is their strength, which is nothing but the tensile strength of the plate. The strength of xps board is within the range before 200kpa and 250kpa, while the strength of eps board is below 100kpa. For some houses in coastal areas, the strength of roof is very important. In addition, during and after installation, further reinforcement and auxiliary fixation are needed.

Generally speaking, the strength of xps board is relatively high, but the brittleness of eps board itself is relatively large, so there is a possibility of cracking after extensive pasting, and the pasting effect is not very good. Flexibility is also an important aspect of inspecting the board. If the flexibility of the board is good, it can be bent several times during the inspection, which is similar to the ductility in waterproof materials. Eps has better flexibility.
